All told, Robert, who could speak no English, was in the airport for 9 hours, and near the end was becoming extremely agitated, throwing chairs and computers around. Finally the RCMP arrived - what ensued was caught on video (it is somewhat disturbing):
Why an interpreter was not brought in, and why nothing was ever explained to Robert is on the Vancouver International Airport, but his death falls squarely on those four officers. I don't understand how you could watch that video and not see what amounts to clear manslaughter. In fact, recently the coroners ruled it a homicide, so there's that in addition to the findings of perjury and attempts to misrepresent the facts by the RCMP.
From what I can tell the four were charged with perjury but have yet to be tried, and to be honest I'm not optimistic that they will even be convicted for that.
I find the whole thing disgusting.
